On the oven control panel press the clock or set clock button and the cancel off button at the same time and hold for 10 seconds. Press the oven stop or clear button for three seconds to stop the cleaning cycle. Kitchenaid ovens with a self cleaning feature have a locking mechanism that activates when the oven reaches a certain temperature during the self cleaning cycle. If that does not unlock the door run a short self clean cycle 1 2 hours.

Set the oven to self clean. Most electronic control ovens will display a fault code to indicate that the sensor has failed. Allow the oven to cool approximately 30 90 minutes move the latch arm to the left to unlock the door. Again wait for at least another 20 seconds.

3 set the flashing clock to the current time. If power to the oven fails during this operation the oven will remain in the locked position and disengaging the lock can be quite difficult. Hold the oven light switch down and press the cancel off button. If you suspect that the sensor is at fault you should first remove the power to the oven for a few moments and then reconnect.

If this doesn t work unplug it from the electrical outlet and wait a few minutes. Wait at least 20 seconds before you cancel the self clean setting on the oven. 2 wait approximately 10 minutes and reapply power to the oven. The door will also lock during the self cleaning cycle and won t unlatch until the temperature inside the oven cools to about 200 degrees fahrenheit.

If no food or utensils are in the oven start a self clean cycle then hit clear off after 60 seconds. To unlock an oven hold down the lock button on your control panel for 2 or 3 seconds and wait for the oven to beep to indicate it s unlocked. If this doesn t work open the oven door and look for the oven light switch inside the oven. If your oven door is locked open press and hold down the light switch while you continue to work through the process of cancelling the lock on the door.

If there is food in the oven let the oven cool to room temperature and try to unlatch the door. If the oven isn t too hot the lock will immediately release allowing you to open the door. Range oven door won t unlock. However if the whirlpool oven door is locked and won t open even after a cleaning cycle it s possible the stove s control panel has malfunctioned.

If the door will not unlock at the end of the clean cycle then you may have a problem with the oven temperature sensor. Press cancel off key to start a latch reset wait 20 30 seconds and open door turn the power off at the circuit breaker or fuse box for one minute then turn the power back on. Then plug it back in again which may reset the temperature gauge and cause it to unlock.
